High top vs low top Converse: what to compare before buying
High tops and low tops can both work in an everyday wardrobe. When shopping preloved, compare the cut you prefer and the condition of the particular pair rather than choosing by the model name alone.
How the cuts differ
High tops extend higher around the ankle and have more lacing up the upper. Low tops sit lower around the ankle. Consider which shape works with the trousers, skirts or socks you normally wear, and how much time you want to spend adjusting laces.
Platform styles add another visible design difference. Check the actual listing rather than assuming all high tops or low tops use the same sole.
Start with what you already wear
Look at a well-fitting pair you own. Note the size system, shape and space around your toes and heel. Use those observations when asking about a preloved pair. A matching size number alone does not establish that two different models will feel the same.
Compare condition where it matters
For high tops, look closely at the collar, upper and eyelet area as well as the soles. For low tops, inspect the heel lining and opening as well as the rest of the shoe. Ask about stains, stitching or a detail that is hard to see in the photos. QnE checks labels, stitching, soles, defects and cleanliness, and discloses stains before payment.
